SHASTA COUNTY (KCBS)— Hot, windy weather conditions are causing problems for firefighters who are battling a large wildfire in Shasta County.

Cal Fire spokesman Daniel Berlant said the so-called “Bully” fire has consumed about 4,400 acres since is started last Friday and it’s only 15 percent contained.

Getting more containment has been a problem as temperatures topped out at 108 degrees Monday.

Berlant said hot temperatures, coupled with gusty winds has prompted more evacuations near the rural town of Igo.

About 35 homes are in harms way right now and every effort is being made to save those properties.

Around 100 additional firefighters were brought in overnight bringing the total to just under 2,000 personnel on scene.

The fire was reportedly sparked by exhaust from a truck at a marijuana cultivation site in the area. A 27-year-old Sacramento man has been arrested on suspicion of causing the blaze.
